The mission of the Lower Alabama Media Project (LAMP) is to nurture and showcase diverse media talent, empowering local creators and craftspeople so that every name in the closing credits reflects our community. Through connection, mentorship, and collaboration, we aim to inspire regional stories and build a sustainable creative industry.
Lower Alabama has a rich media history, from Close Encounters of the Third Kind to Love in Fairhope and The Life of Chuck. The region is home to a thriving community of creatives, including filmmakers, producers, and crew members working both above and below the line. Beyond film and television, Lower Alabama also boasts a growing presence in game development, animation, and digital media.
Geographically, Lower Alabama is bigger than you might think—Baldwin and Mobile counties combined are larger than the entire state of Rhode Island, and when you include all the counties that make up the region, their total land area is comparable to Massachusetts.
With its deep cultural roots, expansive landscapes, and artistic talent, this region is a hub of creativity, and our mission is to showcase its unique stories and the people who bring them to life.
